I have been reminded of your sincere faith, which first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice and, I am persuaded, now lives in you also (2 Timothy 1:5).

We have unequivocally maintained that the family is one of God´s best gifts to mankind. Within a healthy family, the kind God intended, fathers, mothers, and their children are able to interact and influence each other for their overall common good. The home thus becomes the school of character development where children are nurtured and prepared for fruitful adulthood. In this home school, mothers are most influential, as exemplified by Eunice and Lois (Timothy´s mother and grandmother respectively) (2 Tim 1:5). God bless all the caring, loving and positively influential mothers in Living Water Parish, and the world at large.

Evidence indicates overwhelmingly to the fact that children who grow up in dysfunctional homes tend more towards troubled lives, often characterised by criminal tendencies, disregard for constituted authorities and poor educational attainments, among many other vices. Similarly, children with good home upbringing, where mothers invest in moulding them to be God fearing and good citizens, often stand out positively and well behaved, disciplined and high achievers.

This gives further concern about the continued erosion of family values and the increasing rates of divorce in our society; these lead to more children growing in dysfunctional homes. Its even more frightening to think about children growing up in settings where there are NO MOTHERS (just 2 or 3 fathers for parents) as could happen under plans to redefine marriage and the implications for family life. I suppose we will all say, both in words and through concerted action God forbid!!

Happy Mother´s Day.
